Visit FileForums This isn't an RPG like Final Fantasy - no kidfighters wearing silly S/M gear here - and this isn't an action game like Jade Empire where the story is 100% linear and you have no armor and weapon choices. The 3D graphics are beautiful and varied but there are some fuzzy textures here and there (not a big deal when you consider the huge world that the game is loading). Gothic 2 isn't perfect: it is divided into story-chapters and the last chapter is short and a bit underwhleming. Here, you get a story that makes sense (at least within a world where there is magic and dragons). Most RPG's today have childish stories or stories with enormous plot-holes.

There is always something stronger and more deadly than you as you adventure further into the worldР”В¤. Caves, crypts, and encampments populate the forests and mountainsides. Once you are strong enough, there is an enormous amount to discover. I suspect this is why some gamers dont like Gothic, but they likely never gave it a chance after the first hour.Р”Р€. Only after you have combat skills should you venture off the roads.

Once you leave town you have to stay on the roads or you will die quite easily. Some will hate the slow beginning where you basically walk around a large town, but the game builds tremendously from there. Very very few RPG games even attempt that amount of complexity.Р”Сћ. Some of your choices will preclude other choices later on. There's a surprising amount of depth to your choices and your choices will change events on the future. You pick a faction fairly early in the game and then the choices you make thru-out the game will greatly affect your gameplay. Gamespot really lamed out when the gave this game an average score.Р”РЋ.
